fix(hud): accept the system language prompt on Enter - #1442
With no control focused, Enter had no default action on the system language prompt: it landed on body and nothing handled it. Enter now accepts the prompt's primary button in that case. A focused control keeps its own Enter. Modified Enter, repeat keydowns (repeat=true) and Enter while a HUD popover is open do nothing. The first keydown of a held Enter still confirms.
This change does not alter native window activation, and the path tested here needs the HUD to have keyboard focus.

Testing
Windows 11, built app, fresh profile, --lang=zh-CN, --force-device-scale-factor=2.92 (about 877×548 logical), real OS input with event logging over a local debugging port. This ran on commit 7fda7c3; the only later change is a test.
Before, with the HUD focused: a trusted Enter reached BODY and nothing happened.
After, on the same path: Ctrl+Enter did nothing. Enter stored openscreen-locale=zh-CN, closed the prompt, and the bar switched to Chinese.
In this emulated size the whole card and both buttons were on screen.
At --force-device-scale-factor=3.11, a work area of 824×492 logical, close to the report's width, the card spanned y=296–431 and both buttons were on screen. This PR does not change the layout; that result comes from the HUD rebuild already in main.
With no input, the prompt stayed up for about 14 seconds in four fresh profiles, and the window got focus in all four. These were short observations from a shell launch, not a claim about long-term behaviour.
Unit tests cover Enter with nothing focused (fails without the fix), a focused button activated by Enter running that button's action and not the global confirm, repeat and modified keydowns, and Enter with a popover open.
CI on commit 3af3304 passed, including Test, both typechecks, Lint, Build and the Windows x64 diagnostic bundle. Locally on Windows, on Node 25 with --no-experimental-webstorage, the only failures in the full run were 4 tests in .github/scripts/stable-release-notes.test.mjs, which pass in CI. This PR does not touch that file or build.yml. Its helper searches for a \n line break and returns -1 on CRLF text, so a CRLF checkout is the likely cause, but those local failures were not traced and main was not re-run locally.
An inline code review was run and its two correctness findings are fixed here. The automated reviewers did not produce a review: Codex and Copilot lacked quota, and CodeRabbit is skipped by repository policy. That is neither a pass nor a finding.
Not covered:
Focus at launch. Launches from a background shell were inconsistent: document.hasFocus() was true in one and false in another, and with it false, Enter went to the shell until the card was clicked. Launches from the Start menu or the installer were not tested.
The reporter's setup. The clipping did not reproduce in an emulated work area close to the report's size, but a real 1440×960 display at 175% was not tested.
The reported 1.5.0 build, macOS and Linux.

Improvements
Pressing Enter accepts the system-language suggestion when no control is focused and the language menu is closed.
Enter continues to activate focused controls. Repeated Enter presses, modified Enter presses, and other keys do not accept the suggestion.
Pressing Enter on the software-encoder notice does not dismiss it; the notice remains unaffected by this keyboard interaction.

Walkthrough
HudNotice now supports optional Enter-key confirmation. LaunchWindow enables it for the system-language prompt only when no popover is open. Tests cover eligible and ineligible key events and confirm that Enter does not dismiss the software-encoder notice.
Changes: Enter confirmation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Add guarded Enter confirmation src/components/launch/HudControls.tsx
HudNotice adds the optional confirmOnEnter prop, defaulting to false. When enabled, it calls onConfirm for an unmodified, non-repeating Enter event targeted at document.body.
Enable and test prompt confirmation src/components/launch/LaunchWindow.tsx, src/components/launch/LaunchWindow.test.tsx
The system-language prompt enables Enter confirmation only when no popover is open. Tests cover prompt key interactions and verify that Enter does not dismiss the software-encoder notice.
Issue 1428 reports that Enter does nothing on the clipped first-run system-language prompt. This change adds Enter confirmation for that prompt in the supported conditions; clipping remains unchanged.
Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 4cc2d
The change confines Enter confirmation to the system-language prompt while preserving focused controls and excluding modified or repeated keypresses and open popovers. No merge-blocking issue was identified.

Cover Alt, Shift, and Meta in the modified-Enter test.

Cover Alt, Shift, and Meta in the modified-Enter test.
The test at LaunchWindow.test.tsx:2295 covers only Ctrl+Enter. The guard at HudControls.tsx:764 also rejects Alt+Enter, Shift+Enter and Meta+Enter. No existing launch or HUD test sends these modifiers, so removing one of those checks would not fail a test in that path. The suggested events add coverage for the current behavior, and the existing assertion checks them.

Extend the modified-Enter test in LaunchWindow to dispatch Enter key events with
Alt, Shift, and Meta modifiers alongside the existing Ctrl case. Keep the
existing assertion that none of these events accepts the system locale
suggestion.
Add a device-settings case to the Enter tests for the system language prompt.

Add an Enter-key test in the “LaunchWindow device settings” test block that sets
systemLocaleSuggestion to “zh-CN”, opens device settings via
launch-device-settings-button, and waits for hud-device-settings. Verify the
system language prompt is visible, dispatch Enter on document.body, and assert
acceptSystemLocaleSuggestion was not called.
