Assessment custom-field handling backend/custom_fields/host.py, backend/custom_fields/serializers.py, backend/tprm/models.py, backend/tprm/serializers.py, backend/app_tests/api/test_api_entity_assessment_custom_fields.py, frontend/src/lib/components/Forms/ModelForm/CustomFieldDefinitionForm.svelte, frontend/src/lib/components/Forms/ModelForm/EntityAssessmentForm.svelte, frontend/src/lib/utils/{customFields.ts,schemas.ts}, product-docs/features/custom-fields.md |
Entity assessments inherit custom-field support. Serializers handle custom-field values and validate folder selection against the effective perimeter. Cache handling and API tests cover updates, folder changes, authorization, and cloning. The frontend form and schema support entity-assessment custom fields. |
Assessment labels, filtering, and exports backend/custom_fields/filters.py, backend/app_tests/api/test_api_custom_fields.py, backend/tprm/views.py, frontend/src/lib/utils/{crud.ts,table.ts}, product-docs/concepts/third-party-risk.md |
The viewset supports custom-field search and filtering, prepares visible labels for export, and copies labels and custom-field values when cloning. Custom-field filtering deduplicates results. Assessment lists include label fields and batch actions. Documentation describes assessment labels and revision carry-over. |

Security Architecture Review
-
Security architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to
1e0acThe new metadata paths have two bounded security risks: filtering can reveal an assessment’s membership in a hidden label, and perimeter changes can preserve custom-field values outside their intended domain. Assessment permissions, related-field masking and transactional updates limit exposure, but do not resolve these risks.
Retained concerns
- Medium · security · inferred: An authenticated caller who can read assessments and knows a valid inaccessible label ID can filter by that label and infer membership from returned assessment rows. The generic relation filter uses all label objects; subsequent list/export masking hides label values but preserves the selected rows. This assessment-specific disclosure path is introduced by the PR.
- Medium · security · inferred: A perimeter-driven folder move can validate submitted custom fields against the source folder, delete out-of-scope values after moving, then recreate those same values. The read property returns all stored values without rechecking definition applicability, so source-domain metadata can remain visible to destination assessment readers. Destination required-field checks can also be skipped. This interaction is newly reachable through entity-assessment custom-field support; the underlying perimeter-to-folder ordering is pre-existing.
Security review details
-
Security Blast Radius
- inferred — The label-filter disclosure is bounded to assessments the caller can already read and requires a valid label identifier. It reveals association membership, not the hidden label’s text or otherwise unauthorized assessment rows. Custom-field transition exposure depends on an allowed assessment mutation, applicable source definitions and subsequent destination readers.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
- inferred — The two supported static paths are hidden-label predicate disclosure before masking, and source-scoped custom-field reapplication after a perimeter-derived move. Neither was exercised end to end. The supplied line-1310 candidate remains deferred, with no retained verified Security findings in the brief.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
- observed — Assessment rows remain authorization-scoped. Export formatting receives the visibility-filtered label list. New many-to-many links are checked for related-object visibility, while already-linked hidden objects may be retained. Explicit folder moves invoke destination add-permission validation; perimeter-derived assignment occurs later, in a pre-existing update branch.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
- inferred — Transactions should contain database failures during assessment metadata writes and clone creation, but cannot correct successful writes validated against the wrong folder. Bulk relation additions/removals are set-based and repeatable without concurrent changes; concurrency can still overwrite intervening relation edits. No security enforcement role for these labels was established.
Hardening Proposals
- proposed — Authorize related-label filter predicates before queryset selection, using the same visibility policy as list and export masking, so inaccessible identifiers cannot select assessment rows.
- proposed — Resolve the effective destination folder before authorization and custom-field validation, then use that same folder for required-field checks, cleanup and value application. Recheck applicability at the persistence boundary to prevent stale pending values from defeating cleanup.

Explanation
The description explains the change, but it omits the required checklist and leaves all test-plan items unchecked. It also does not state whether the required backend, frontend, documentation, and test checks were completed or not applicable.
Resolution
Add the required checklist sections, mark completed items, and provide the commands or manual verification performed. If a check does not apply, state why. Add the issue reference or remove the placeholder if no issue exists.

@coderabbitai Both out of scope. The implicit move already happens through Assessment.save() without a permission check, and validating it would 403 every edit (labels included) on legacy Global rows. For the form, Global definitions stay valid in child domains and a missing required field returns a normal 400, so a submit guard while definitions load would belong in CustomFieldsSection for all hosts. |

What & why
Entity assessments can now carry custom fields and filtering labels. Labels can also be shown as a list column, filtered on, added or removed in bulk, and appear in the CSV/Excel export; custom fields get the same list columns and filters as other objects but are not in the export.
